Fuengirola

One of the original tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol, Fuengirola remains popular but has also become a town in its own right, with a large beachside area and charming inner town full of tapas bars, shops and restaurants.

The suburbs that radiate outwards from the town area have a more conventional residential feel than those in the Marbella area, yet here too there is an excellent collection of villas and townhouses lining leafy streets in an area where the gradient slopes gently upwards.

To the west of Fuengirola – roughly midway between Mijas Pueblo and La Cala de Mijas – Mijas Golf is a residential area with a more typical Costa del Sol configuration, where villa suburbs and resort hotels follow the curvature of golf courses amid sea and mountain views. The Sohail Castle is a local visual reference point that is also used for summer concerts and events.
